Measure B, Measure BB & Vehicle Registration Fee Funding
Investing in Emeryville’s Transportation System
The City of Emeryville receives local transportation funding from the Alameda County Transportation Commission (Alameda CTC) through voter-approved transportation programs, including Measure B, Measure BB, and the Vehicle Registration Fee (VRF) Program.
These funds help the City maintain and improve Emeryville’s transportation system, including streets, sidewalks, bicycle facilities, pedestrian improvements, and other eligible transportation projects and programs.
The funding is part of Alameda County’s broader effort to improve transportation, mobility, safety, and access throughout the county. Alameda CTC distributes a portion of Measure B, Measure BB, and VRF revenues directly to local jurisdictions through formula-based Direct Local Distributions (DLDs).
What Are These Funds?
Measure B
Measure B is a voter-approved half-cent transportation sales tax originally approved by Alameda County voters in 2000. Measure B funds transportation improvements and services throughout Alameda County, including local streets and roads, bicycle and pedestrian safety, transit, and transportation services for seniors and people with disabilities.
The City of Emeryville receives Measure B funds through Alameda CTC's Direct Local Distribution program.
Measure BB
Measure BB is a voter-approved transportation sales tax approved by Alameda County voters in 2014. Measure BB provides funding for local transportation priorities, including:
- Local streets and roads
- Bicycle and pedestrian improvements
- Transit
- Paratransit
Measure BB Direct Local Distributions provide local agencies with funding that can be prioritized for transportation needs within their communities.
Vehicle Registration Fee
The Vehicle Registration Fee (VRF) Program was approved by Alameda County voters in 2010 and established a $10 annual vehicle registration fee. VRF Direct Local Distribution funds are provided to cities and the County for eligible local transportation purposes, including local road improvement and repair.
