Golden Sneaker Contest
The Alameda County Safe Routes to Schools team is excited to announce that the 2026 Golden Sneaker Contest will take place March 2–13, 2026! During this well-loved event, Alameda County students, classrooms, and schools participate in a friendly challenge to see who can walk, roll, carpool, and/or use public transit the most.
What Is the Golden Sneaker Contest?
The Golden Sneaker Contest is a classroom-based challenge that encourages students, parents, teachers, and administrators to choose healthy, active, and shared transportation options, including:
Walking
Biking
Rolling in a wheelchair or mobility device
Skateboarding, scootering, or using other human-powered wheels
Riding public transit, such as AC Transit or BART
Carpooling with someone from a different household
