The Emeryville Fire Department has a chaplain program. The Fire Chaplain serves the Department by giving aid, comfort, and help to citizens or Emeryville and members of the Fire Department who are victims of emergencies. Service is offered to persons of all faiths on a voluntary basis and is kept confidential. General information about the program may be obtained by phoning 596-3750.

The Emeryville Fire Department is a member of the Alameda County, providing paramedic-level emergency medical services. All firefighters are certified as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), and 9 firefighters are certified as Paramedics (EMT-P). This allows the department to offer Advanced and Basic Life Support as a first response from all engine companies. This gives Emeryville a unique ability to deliver emergency medical services in an average of 5 minutes or less.
