Fire Prevention Bureau
The Fire Prevention Bureau conducts the following:
- Reviews plans for proposed construction / development, issues fire permits, enforces locally adopted codes and ordinances related to fire prevention, meets and confers with businesses, contractors, architects, developers and city staff to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
- Inspects businesses, residential buildings and certain business operations for fire safety and code compliance.
- Investigates all fires for cause and origin.
- Inspects the installation and maintenance of automatic, annual and other fire alarm systems and fire-extinguishing equipment.
- Manages the Fire Department Business Inspection Program.
- Coordinates the Fire Department Public Education Program.
