The 1995 republication of the Emeryville Municipal Code is derived from an earlier edition of the code, originally published in 1959 as the Emeryville Town Code. The code was republished in 1978 as the Emeryville Municipal Code, and thereafter maintained through regular supplementation until 1990.

From 1990 through the date of this republication, supplementation of the code did not occur. This republication has made extensive revisions to the earlier code, and includes the many amendments and additions, as well as the deletion of repealed material, that have taken place over the last few years.

With the inclusion of Supplement No. 4, this edition of the code is current through Ordinance 04-013, effective September 7, 2004.
