Program Overview
The Child Development Center provides a nurturing and educational environment for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten age children at subsidized or market rates depending upon a family's gross monthly income and size. Children participate in a comprehensive education program, outlined by the State Department of Education/Child Development Division, that develops skills in receptive and expressive language, pre-reading and pre-writing skills, math, science, art, health, hygiene, and large muscle coordination. The Center also emphasizes positive self-images, cultural pride, socialization, sharing, as well as acceptable ways to express emotions and respect for others. |
Emeryville Child Development Center is owned and operated by the City of Emeryville. The Center operates year-round and provides child care services for 90 children whose parents are working, in training, or in school. The program serves infants and toddlers, and preschool-aged children. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Monday through Friday. The facility consists of 6 child care classrooms and a Multi-Purpose Room with kitchen facilities. Adjunct to the multi-purpose room is a courtyard that provides both circulation and serves as an outdoor area. The facility may be for rented for large gatherings and special events.
